There must be some misunderstanding. Phil Collins told us "Hello, I must be going" nearly four years ago now. Leaving us all in a land of confusion.
I remember it clearly. Phil, we said. How can you just walk away from us, when all we can do is watch you leave? Turn it on, Phil. Turn it on again. But there was no reply at all.
Admittedly, there were trying times. He'd say black; we'd say white. We'd take it all instead of taking one bite. Still it's just a shame. That's all.
Phil, Philly don't lose our number. Just say the word, ohhhhh! and we'll take, take you home.
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! Oh, Lord, maybe something in the air tonight. And his coming back to us is against the odds. But it's a chance I've got to take.

Never watched this picture. Well, it seems I was upstaged and preceded in my Phil Collins analysis by a mere 15 years. Damn.

I tried. Everything great about 1980s American meaningless pop music is personified by a balding British man. And without a trace of hipster irony (OK, maybe just a tad)the stuff is really fantastic to revisit.
I still want to open a boutique in a fashionable part of town called Su Suit Studio. Within its friendly confines, you'll be fitted for a suit, no jacket required, under the watchful eye of massive Phil faces painted on the walls, to the tune of sugary CHR circa 1985.

A. Full props for Su Suit Studio
B. Fuller props for being able to view Phil Collins' solo work critically and without irony. Also explains why you were able to nail this, lol.
I'm among the world's douchiest music snobs, but there's something about Phil Collins' early solo work that just strikes a chord with me. I'm sure I would have hated it in context, but ignoring how Pat Bateman this is going to sound, it's really convincing pop music. It's not altogether surprising given that he's actually a fairly talented musician with some serious studio chops, but it is surprising given that there's so much ridiculous 80s production value that it all has to overcome to still manage to be interesting.
Then again, I may be the only person in the world who likes both proggy, Peter Gabriel-era Genesis and post-pop Phil Collins-era Genesis, so what do I know?
